40 Day Revolution

EFC-ER’s Annual Sponsors of Youth (SOY) Retreat brought 89 youth leaders from 26 churches together for a weekend of encouragement and united planning.

Their guest speaker, Richard Mull of Operation Light Force introduced a program called “40 Day Revolution.” For 40 days, this fall, all EFC-ER Youth groups will be encouraged to follow a daily plan to accomplish the purpose of “blessing people around you by deliberately serving and praying for them.”

The 40 day program is designed to teach youth how to minister for Jesus within their day-to-day lives, especially in their schools. Some of the daily assignments include: praying for their principal, buying a friend’s lunch, praying for the students with lockers on either side of them, etc.

Youth Leaders can expect more details during Yearly Meeting this year. The Youth Board hopes to set up e-mail networking for the teens to share and encourage each other across the region during the 40 days.

What is the 40 Day Revolution*?

It is a 40-day campus-reaching strategy that effectively mobilizes students and makes them into REVOLUTIONARIES! There are 4 main ingredients of a revolution:

PRAYER/ EVANGELISM is when you partner with God through intercession (standing in the gap) so that God can accomplish the impossible on YOUR campus. Through the 40 days of FOCUSED prayer, you’ll learn how to pray effectively so that change and impact are made on your campus. And, when you couple your prayer with FASTING, it gets you ready so that God can answer those prayers THROUGH you!

SERVANT EVANGELISM is faith in action. As we do this, we seek to meet the NEEDS of those around us. Let’s face it – people are needy. By meeting a need, we hope to earn the right to share Jesus with that person – and ultimately lead them to Him. When you bless a person and are used by God to bring that person closer to God, you are practicing...

BLESSING EVANGELISM is relational, rather than instructional. You share YOURSELF – your time and your heart rather than your knowledge of how to become a Christian. In the present, you establish the right to share the wonderful message of Jesus in the future.

We have a motto that we like to stand by, "talk to God about your friend, THEN talk to your friend about God." This is what it all comes down to – after 40 days of PRAYING, FASTING, SERVING, and BLESSING, God will have prepared people’s hearts for the final step… Sharing Christ. You’ll see that leading a friend to Christ isn’t hard, and that it is what the Revolution is all about!”
