On the night of December 10, 2000, the parsonage at Alum Creek burned with loss of life, leaving behind words like shock, unbelief, and anguish. On a bright Monday morning on May 20, 2002, a rebuild crew from Friends Disaster Service met to build a new parsonage bringing with them words of hope, encouragement, and love. Volunteers arrived early on a Monday morning with hammers and tool belts, coming from Kansas, Virginia, Missouri, and Ohio. Some came because they've been on the receiving end of FDS. All prayed that this rebuild would bring about more than a new building. That through the hard work, fellowship and love being demonstrated, the church community would be built up and encouraged as well. Retired Pastor Jim Brantingham commented, "Seeing these people come from so many states has injected some new enthusiasm and new life into the church. It's just been absolutely exhilarating to watch happen."
Contractors will complete the house by installing electrical, plumbing, insulation, dry wall, and an exterior of brick veneer. We thank God for His presence and protection, and supplying good weather.
