Submitted by Tim Chen - Church Coworker On Saturday, August 28th, the Cleveland Taiwanese Christian Church held a pig roast at North Olmstead Evangelical Friends Church. This is an annual event yet it is the first time we roasted a full pig at the church. This occasion was to welcome new and returning College students. Over 80 people in all including 20 local and 30 international students enjoyed an evening of fun, fellowship, sharing, and of course, great food. Thanks to the ladies fellowship and many devoted servants the event put a lasting impression on the foreign students. Many of the foreign students came from Taiwan and many are non-Christians. They currently are enrolled in various programs at Ashland University, Cleveland State University, Case Western Reserve University, and Cleveland Institute of Music. The focus of the mission is to befriend them and hope to introduce Jesus Christ to them. The evening began with icebreakers, a skit by the English youth group, followed by a chorus from the church choir, a personal testimony, and a message from the pastor. After dinner, there were small group sharing sessions. We feel these foreign students are particularly important for our outreach mission. Much prayer and encouragement are needed to reach these students for Christ. They are from diverse non-Christian backgrounds. May God's love work into the hearts and minds of these young people. They come to seek higher education and we hope they will seek God's will and purpose for their lives. The Church plans to hold meetings once a month for fellowship that will provide a chance for witnessing and sharing. The next event is on September 25th at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Mayfield. This coincides with the annual Chinese Moon Festival. Please continue to pray for the Taiwanese Church and our mission. Ask our Heavenly Father to use these events mightily in the molding of our students' hearts. |
