 FY (Friends Youth) United

FY United 2009

The Youth Board of Eastern Region welcomed over 200 teenagers to FY United at Malone University.
“Friends teens need the opportunity to come together and see that they are part of a wider Friends family,” explained Julie  Martin, chairperson of the Youth Board. “So many of our smaller church youth groups can feel isolated and it’s a real encouragement to them to meet together with their peers for worship, study, and fun. Our hope is to continue offering this option during Yearly Meeting. We are encouraging each church to send at least two representatives from their church as delegates next year and to other events.”
The Adam Cappa Band led worship and ushered those involved into the presence of God. Pastor David Mabry of Orange Friends (OH) taught about apologetics using Alex McFarland’s “The Ten Most Common Objections to Christianity” as the foundation for his sessions.
In addition, Malone University’s Admission Center hosted a large outreach which included several inflatable games, ice cream bar, and tons of fun. Much gratitude goes out to the director, Pastor Pete Fowler (Salem First Friends), for the countless hours invested in the lives of teenagers. A strong thank you also goes out to Pastor Chris King (Canton First Friends) and Molly Colian (Brewster Friends) for their hard work and sacrifice. In addition, thanks to all the volunteers who made this weekend possible.
