CONSTITUTION

WOMEN’S MISSIONARY FELLOWSHIP

THE EVANGELICAL FRIENDS CHURCH – EASTERN REGION

ARTICLE I – NAME

 

The name of this organization shall be Women’s Missionary Fellowship of the Evangelical Friends Church – Eastern Region.

 

 

ARTICLE II – OBJECTIVES

 

The objectives of the Women’s Missionary Fellowship shall be:

1.             To enlist and unite women of our churches in a deep interest in the home and foreign missionary work of the Evangelical Friends Church – Eastern Region.

2.             To stress the necessity of prayer, Bible study, and reading of Christian literature.

3.             To promote fellowship among the women of the church and to draw non-church women to become involved in the missionary work at home and around the world.

4.             To distribute information and suitable materials to be used in the local missionary fellowships.

5.             To support with our finances and gifts of love the missionary work of EFC-ER.

 

ARTICLE III – POLICIES

 

The Women’s Missionary Fellowship shall cooperate fully with all of the regular organized home and foreign missionary activities of the Evangelical Friends Church – Eastern Region (e.g. Missionary Outreach Budget and Faith Promise Conferences).

 

ARTICLE IV – MEMBERSHIP

 

  1. Any woman interested in the objectives of this organization is eligible for membership.
  2. Active member: Attends meetings, contributes to financial program, participates in the reading program, shares in the prayer burdens, and supports work projects as much as possible.

Associate member: Is unable to attend meetings but participates in financial and other portions of the work as she is able.

3.         Annual dues shall be sent to the treasurer during January each year, unless otherwise requested.

 

 

ARTICLE V – OFFICERS AND THEIR ELECTION

 

  1. The officers shall be: President, 1st Vice-President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Editor of the A Circle of Friends, and Coordinator of Reading Program.  These officers shall assume their responsibility at the end of the calendar year following Yearly Meeting.
  2. The nominating committee shall consist of three members with one to be named each year for two-year terms. The committee shall be named by the executive committee prior to Yearly Meeting, and be approved at the Yearly Meeting W.M.F. business session, with opportunity for additional persons to be named from the floor.  This nominating committee shall be responsible for the preparation of a slate of officers to be presented at Yearly Meeting the following year, and shall fill any vacancies occurring during the year after their election.
  3. The term of office for each officer shall be no more than three consecutive 3-year terms, with the exception of the Treasurer, the Editor of A Circle of Friends, Secretary, and the Coordinator of Reading Program, which shall have unlimited terms.
  4. The president, vice-presidents, secretary, treasurer, coordinator and editor must be members of the Evangelical Friends Church – Eastern Region.

 

 

ARTICLE VI – DUTIES OF OFFICERS

 

1.             The President shall preside at all meetings of the Yearly Meeting W.M.F. and all Executive Board Meetings. She shall promote and carry out the objectives of this organization. She shall help in the planning of retreats and all functions of W.M.F. at Yearly Meeting, preside and promote the annual W.M.F. luncheon.  She shall contact the Vice-President to preside or represent her at any function she is unable to attend.

2.             The Vice-President could be approached to become President. She shall be ready with ideas and helpful materials to assist local fellowships in building their memberships.  She shall assist in forming any new societies, helping in their organizations and giving nurture as they progress.  She will assist the 2nd Vice President with Speaker Procurement for our annual retreats, if necessary. She will be responsible for updating our annual W.M.F. Information Guide, to be approved by the Executive Board.

3.             The 2nd Vice-President could be approached to prepare for President after the 1st Vice-President. She shall be responsible for Speaker Procurement of our annual retreat with the assistance of the 1st Vice-President if deemed necessary. She then will be responsible for presenting speakers to the Executive Board for their approval.

 

4.             The Secretary shall keep accurate records of all meetings of W.M.F. and Executive Board and shall send copies of the minutes to all Executive Board members. She shall send any correspondence including e-mails, at the president’s request and shall assist the activities within the W.M.F.  She shall send a copy of all correspondence to the President.

5.             The Treasurer shall receive all monies for the local fellowships, and forward all monies to the proper channels.  She shall make a report at Yearly Meeting W.M.F. session and at Executive Board meetings and shall have the books audited annually.

6.             The Editor of the A Circle of Friends shall promote prayer support for missions and missionaries.  She shall be responsible for editing, and sending to EFC-ER for publishing and mailing of A Circle of Friends, our newsletter.

7.             The Coordinator of Reading Program shall be responsible for selecting books for the reading lists each year and shall recognize those individuals who read at least six books each year in the way she deems best. She shall prepare a summary of reports received from each local church participating in the reading program and shall give her report at Yearly Meeting. She shall assist the EFI Program Book Chairman as called upon by suggesting names of persons in the EFC-ER who might be able to write devotional materials.

 

 

ARTICLE VII – MEETINGS

 

  1. Women’s Missionary Fellowship shall meet at least once a year at the time of the regular Yearly Meeting of the EFC-ER.
  2. Each local fellowship shall, if possible, send at least one member to the annual meeting.

 

 

ARTICLE VIII – AMENDMENTS

 

  1. This constitution may be amended at any regular meeting by a two-thirds vote of members voting, provided the amendment has been filed with the secretary and the executive committee and recommended by them.
