As a lifelong Friends church attender and member, I have to admit that reading the Faith and Practice would not be my favorite Saturday evening entertainment. But, I do appreciate knowing where to find a Biblical reference to share my beliefs on certain issues, a brief history of Evangelical Friends, and the differences between the various branches of Friends organizations. What I did not realize was the valuable tool the Faith and Practice provides to our new mission countries.

Did you know leaders in Hungary, Haiti, and Hispanic churches have the Faith & Practice in their own languages? Did you know that our Faith and Practice helped to speed along discussions with leaders in Hungary, enabling us to determine that their doctrinal beliefs were in line with our own? This little-read book has strengthened the doctrinal foundation for new Christians around the world!

For the past two years, our Discipline Committee, chaired by Connie Bancroft, has been meeting to update our Faith and Practice.

"Faith and Practice is a living document that the Lord has given us to use in fulfilling His mission within and through EFC-ER and its churches,? explained Connie. ?The new edition has implemented the approved changes in language, format, and layout for the purpose of clarification, and to make the document more professional as well as more layman and user friendly. Because the entire document is being renumbered, we're encouraging every member to receive a new, revised copy."

"The Lord has laid before us a mission of winning souls to Him. May this revision benefit each one of us, our churches, our region, and its ministries in fulfilling the Great Commission."

The 2000 edition will be available later this year and will be worth reading, even on a Saturday night!
